India has a rich cultural history dating from way far back as the third millenium B.C. The seeds of our art were laid during the Indus Valley culture. Boundless proof is available in the tiny artifacts that were unearthed in 1920's by archaeologists Sir John Marshall and Alexander Cunningham. Our ethnic diversity has promoted a varied heritage. Therefore there is ample scope for a skilled craftsman to exhibit his talent provided he has a platform to display his handiwork.
At Swiftcom Trade Private Limited (STPL) we promote the efforts of the small-time craftsman giving him a global market. Right now we have a set of stunning dolls totally hand made, each one minutely crafted, portraying the rich culture of India. They are excellent as show pieces. Our dolls can be divided into three broad categories.
-
Simple Folk: The third category shows casual poses of Indian commonfolk: women depicting ‘namaste', a village belle carrying pot (‘matka') of water/milk/buttermilk. One pair of dolls shows a South Indian bride and groom. These show-pieces represent Indian culture at its finest and can beautify the living room of the

A remarkable feature of this range of dolls is that they are made largely of natural fibre and are therefore environmental – friendly a feature which deserves to be borne in our minds in the light of today's global warming.
